Battle of Ortona 

Causes of the Battle of Ortona- The battle of Ortona started on December 20th 1943. Canadian 1st infantry were ordered by General Montgomery to capture Ortona Deep water ports. They thought if they got this port it would shorten the journey the supplies had to make. Also, the reason why Canadians wanted to take over Ortona was because it was on the way to Pescara.
