Battle of Ortona 

Although the Battle of Ortona only lasted a period of 8 days, it is known to be one of the bloodiest, destructive battles of all time. From the 20th of December to the 28th of December approximately 1,375 Canadians died during the battle. The Battle of Ortona built a strong reputation for Canada showing how early they could have victory. The Canadians not only had victory in just over a week but they also managed to crush one of Germany's toughest infantry and finally forced the Germans to deplete in no less then two weeks. With the capture of Ortona, the allies could dock their allies ships and could quickly deliver line of supplies. The battle of Ortona was a devastating loss for Mouslinni both losing Sicily, southern Italy and the East Coast
