Components- The Battle of Ortona only 8 days (December 20th-28th in 1943) and was considered the bloodiest battle that the Canadians took part in. It was estimated that 1375 Canadian troops were killed. This was an important battle for Canadians because it displayed the strength on the Canadian army and victory. In order to keep Canadians from bringing supplies and more soldiers, the Germans used the Water line defence system to gain control of the docks. The Italian and Germans were losing so it lead them to asking to be truces with all other the allies so they can stop fighting and get out of the war as fast as they can.
